True Tint Stone™

True Tint Stone™ is a thick textured material with the capacity to tint to a true deep color when combined with FauxCrème Color™ tinting products. Authentic looking brick and adobe finishes can be created as well as the simulation of life-like rock and mineral formations.

Product Tips
- To avoid creating a surface that will look wet or over finished, do not glaze over True Tint Stone™.
- Apply over clean, water resistant surfaces only.
Basic Application
- Thoroughly clean the work surface. Tint SetCoat® Clear or SetCoat® to a grout or mortar color (add 3 oz. FauxCrème Color™ Van Dyke Brown to 1 quart SetCoat® Tinting Base). Apply 2 coats of this mixture to the work surface. Letting the first coat dry a minimum of 4 hours before applying the second coat. Let the second coat dry a minimum of 24 hours.
- Tape off an irregular pattern over the mortar color, making sure to simulate uneven laid/stacked stone.
- To create a deep stone color, mix True Tint Stone™ with FauxCrème Color™. Do not exceed 3 oz. of colorant per quart. The product will take the color exceptionally well without fading to a pastel.
- Apply a 1/8” layer of True Tint Stone™ over the entire taped area using a trowel. After the first layer has dried, build up additional 1/8” layers in specific areas for a more dimensional look. Different colors can also be layered to create rock-like formations such as shale, slate, mudstone, gneiss or other variegated stone looks.
- If desired, stipple the material with a plastic bag, sponge or trowel. Wait approximately 15 – 30 minutes until the material firms up and then level off the high peaks using a trowel. Allow to dry thoroughly.
- Remove the tape after the finish has dried. Sanding is optional at this point.
- In kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor applications and commercial areas where extra protection or waterproofing is required, top coat TrueTint Stone™ with AquaThane™ or C-500 Urethane™.
