For a light color, tint with FauxCrème Color™. For a deeper tint, use DecoColor™.
FauxStone™ Pull-Off may be topcoated with any Faux Effects® topcoat; however, if FauxStone™ Pull-Off has been over glazed, ColorSeal™ remains the best choice as a first coat over sensitive artwork or glazes.
Best results are achieved over a basecoat of SetCoat® (2 coats) that will allow more working time using FauxStone™ Pull-Off—on average 30-40 minutes.

To create a Mediterranean finish, ensure that the surface is clean and free of grease/dust. Apply 1 to 2 coats of Neutral White SetCoat® using a brush, roller, or spray gun. Two thin to medium coats are recommended. Allow the SetCoat® to dry 4 hours between coats and 24 hours before applying any faux finish.
Mix together a color reactive mixture of FauxCrème Color™ and Blending Solvent™. Choose a color that will compliment the other color choices. Brush this mixture over the surface. Gently pat with terry cloth to create variations in pattern, color intensity, and achieve more depth. Let dry at least 2 to 4 hours.
Apply a layer of SetCoat® Clear or ColorSeal™ over the color work. This layer may be brushed, rolled or sprayed, but do not over work the product. Let dry at least 4 hours, depending on drying conditions. ColorSeal™ may take longer to fully dry, but should not move color work.
Next, apply a layer of FauxStone™ Pull-Off by brush, flexible trowel, or spray unit. If applying by brush, avoid brushing out like paint–it is better to trowel on the product. Over a large area, it is best to work in manageable sections.
Depending on drying conditions, allow the product to set up for 10 to 20 minutes. Using torn sections of unpainted newsprint, bond paper, or paper towels, lay the absorbent material over the FauxStone™ Pull-Off areas, wait for a moment, and then remove.
FauxStone™ Pull-Off should pull away cleanly. Continue to remove the material, establishing a rolled down, artistic pattern of positive and negative areas. The normal ratio of positive to negative areas can vary, but a 50/50 ratio works best.
Before the FauxStone™ Pull-Off material completely dries, knock down or flatten any high points using a trowel.
An optional final step is to create a color wash of 5% FauxCrème Color™, 45% Activator II™ and 45% water. Apply this mixture by brush or spray, allowing the mixture to seep into the edges and cavities. Blot this layer with cheesecloth to even out the color and let dry.
If extra protection is needed, apply a coat of ColorSeal followed by a more durable topcoat, such as AquaGard™ or C-500 Urethane™.
