Waxes & More
Finishing Wax for Faux Painting
Waxes can become a key element in faux painting projects because they can serve as finishing coats, add a unique look to a variety of surfaces, and even work well on its own as a sealant for wood and other items.
At Faux Masters Studio, we are dedicated to creative painting and decorative endeavors, which is why we carry faux painting wax, unique paint products, and other materials you might need to create the particular looks you want for your walls, ceilings, décor items, cabinetry, and more.
Wax Medium Products for Finishing and Sealing
There are two wax mediums in the Faux Masters Studio product line that are ideal for all your needs, and they are Dorland’s Wax and Liberon Black Bison Wax. Dorland’s Wax has been specifically formulated as a non-yellowing beeswax mixture, and you can use it as an additive to oil paint to prevent shrinking, stop cracking, improve color, and protect finishes.
However, that’s not all this wax can do, and you can also use it as a wax wall finish over plaster, or as a top coat for metal, wood, and a variety of antiques. Liberon Black Bison Wax is a solvent wax blend that’s ideal for protecting and enhancing the natural beauty of wood, making it popular for antiques and furnishings alike. This particular wax is available in medium, neutral, or oak shades, all of which are made with earth pigments.
Glue Products for Crackling and Adhesion Needs
Although glue isn’t typically required for faux finishes, products like Paramount Original Glue can, in fact, be used in the creation of a painted crackle finish. Once you’ve applied your base coat and allowed it to dry, you can apply the glue to the wall. When the glue dries you can apply your top coat.
Beyond this purpose, it is also an excellent and all-purpose glue that can be used with a variety of materials and surfaces, including:
- Paper
- Marble
- Glass
- Wood
- Leather
- Plastic
- Metal
Casein Paint for Unique and Exclusive Jobs
Casein paint is a milk-based paint that gets applied as a paste, and can then be sanded to a smooth finish or used to create a variety of textures and finishes. The paint is ideal for artistic projects like paintings, murals, or even posters, but it can also be used to create antique effects, as a finishing paint, or used in conjunction with glue to create a crackle effect.
At Faux Masters Studio, we carry an excellent casein paint which comes in white, neutral, and black, but can also be tinted to create custom colors.
Waxes, glues, and paints are all crucial components of many faux painting projects. Waxes are great for creating durable protective finishes and top coats; glue can be used for various projects and to create a crackle effect. Casein paint is a great way to add a uniqueness to your work, create a beautiful piece of artwork, or even for crackling effects.
Faux Masters Studio has all the paints, supplies, tools, and accessories you need to plan and execute any faux painting project, whether you’re painting your wall, floor, ceiling, furniture, or creating a stunning piece of artwork to accent your home.
