SofTex™

SofTex™ is a versatile, easy to apply material. Translucent and soft to the touch, it can be used to create linen effects and dimensional color patterns as well as simulating heavy fabric. As a result of its excellent bonding capability, water-based SofTex™ is able to fill minor wall cracks and defects. In addition, SofTex™ also has sound absorbing qualities that make it a truly unique material.

Product Tips
- In areas of heavy traffic, a light coat of ColorSeal™ will help prevent scratching or marring of the SofTex™ surface.
- SofTex™ may be used for exterior applications; however, under certain conditions a special UV topcoat, such as AquaGardUV™ is recommended. AquaThane™ is the preferred topcoat to prevent the finish from extreme heat and freezing.
- Normal drying time is 2 – 4 hours at 75º F.
- For spray applications, thin SofTex™ up to 25% with water.
- SofTex™ can be spatter sprayed, allowed to dry for 10 – 20 minutes and then dry brushed into a beautiful pattern.
Basic Application
- Make sure the work surface is clean, dry and fully cured. For best results, apply 2 even coats of SetCoat® Clear or SetCoat®. Allow to dry 4 hours between coats and then overnight.
- If desired, SofTex™ can be tinted with Faux Crème Color™ prior to application.
- Using a brush, roller or spray unit, apply an even coat to the work surface. Then using a trowel, dry brush, large pouncing brush or comb, create a texture/pattern in the material. Different methods will result in a variety of textures, some softer than others.
- Allow the SofTex™ layer to dry for approximately 2- 4 hours (depending on drying conditions)
- After the material is dry to the touch, additional layers may be applied to create a more dimensional surface.
- Once SofTex™ is fully dry; the work surface can be further enhanced with a color glaze mixture such as AquaCreme™ combined with Faux Crème Color™.
