O’Villa® Finishing Plaster

O’Villa® Finishing Plaster is an extremely versatile decorative finishing material with multiple uses. It can be used as a brushed and troweled as a gesso type base for furniture finishes, as well as a base and color work material in fine arts. This material can also be used as a chalky thick coating on metal or intricate iron work. It is also used as a decorative spattering material to produce a single or multi-color embossed wall decor.

Product Tips
- The O’Villa material by itself is rather translucent, but accepts FauxCrème Color™ readily. (Be careful not to add too much color!)
- To soften the trowel marks, you may want to minimize the trowel patterns by dry brushing with a soft bristled brush.
- O’Villa Finishing Plaster™ dries to a dull plaster effect, but can be wet sanded to a patina soft shine. It may also be given an old waxy appearance by applying one or two coats of O’Villa Wax and later buffed out with lamb’s wool.
Basic Application
- Prepare the surface and ensure it is clean and free of dust or grease.
- Next, base the surface with 2 coats of SetCoat® Clear or SetCoat®. This will provide the necessary basecoat which will deliver the greatest workability and bonding.
- To produce color plaster wall effects, mix a few complementary FauxCrème Colors™ and apply them to the wall surface by brush or spray.
- Next, trowel out using a thin plastic card. To soften the trowel marks, you may want to minimize the trowel patterns by dry brushing with a soft bristled brush.
- O’Villa Finishing Plaster™ can be applied in multiple layers to produce the desired depth and effect.
- Allow at least 4 hours drying time between coats.
