AquaStone™ (formerly known as FauxTex™) is a textured material that contains actual marble dust suspended in an acrylic resin. A full-bodied material that holds its shape when troweled or texturized, AquaStone® enables the artisan to create a wide variety of relief-based finishes. Stucco patterns, limestone, coral stone, as well as brick and block walls are easy to replicate with this dimensional product. AquaStone® is the perfect choice for embossed stenciling.

Product Tips
- AquaStone® may be tinted with FauxCrème Color™; however, dark colors cannot be obtained.
- Always apply AquaStone® over a well-sealed surface using SetCoat® Clear or SetCoat®.
Basic Application
- Thoroughly clean the work surface.
- Tint SetCoat® to a grout or mortar color (3 oz. of Van Dyke Brown FauxCrème Color™ added to one quart of SetCoat® Clear creates a good grout color).
- Apply two coats of this mixture to the work surface, letting the first coat dry a minimum of 4 hours before applying the second coat. Let the second coat dry a minimum of 24 hours.
- Prepare a brick grid using easy-to-remove, low-tack tape, making sure to simulate a staggered brick pattern. Pinch and/or tear the tape to make grout lines more realistic.
- Apply up to 1/8” layer of AquaStone® over the entire taped area using a trowel. (After the first layer has dried, additional layers can be built up in specific areas, if desired, for a more dimensional look. Do not apply each layer more than 1/8” in thickness.)
- Stipple the material with a plastic bag, sponge or trowel. Allow the material to dry approximately 15 minutes until it starts to set.
- Using a trowel, level off or flatten any high peaks that formed during the stippling process.
- Let dry at least 8 hours.
- AquaCreme™ or AquaGlaze® color mixtures may now be applied to the finish to enhance the overall effect.
- Remove the tape grid.
- A final clear coat of ColorSeal™, AquaGard™, or AquaThane™ is recommended for increased durability, especially in kitchens, bathrooms and commercial areas.
