Faux Masters Studios features training workshops on all levels, from beginning faux decorative painting to advanced faux finishing, Modern and Olde World Plaster Finishes to Fine Furniture and Cabinetry techniques. We also offer specialty faux workshops such as pricing, bidding, color management, and mural studies.

Our multiple day “Full-Length Course” professional training programs are designed for the individual that has made decorative painting their career choice. These courses further indulge in the fine details and points of every aspect of techniques.
You will find our foundations class (also known as 5-Day Designer Walls I) to provide you with all the necessary information to start a lucrative painting business. We highly recommend starting your education with this course, creating a sturdy fundamental background and moving forward from here. You will notice that many of our courses do require the 5-Day Designer Walls I as a pre-requisite. For those that have been working in the field and would like to expand their portfolio or “brush up” on some new techniques, you may want to consider one of our specialty courses.
Foundations of Faux™ Enter a world of extraordinary Faux Effects products and build a complete faux painting sample collection or add to your existing portfolio. In this practical yet comprehensive faux painting course, students will learn traditional wall glazing, multi-color washing, stone and textured finishes, and iron finishes, just to name a few. Students will also gain knowledge in product selection and color mixing as well as “faux fundamentals”. This course features a video lecture on the business aspects of operating a faux or decorative painting company, presented by Bob Hoppe of Hoppe Brothers & Sons.
Plasters & Textures™ Own a piece of Italy and its history with Faux Effects natural lim- based plasters. The current trend for “Venetian Plaster Finishes” has opened up a fresh market for Italian plaster finishes. From the ancient use of traditional lime-based plasters imported from Italian earth, to the development of “faux plasters”, our workshop will apprentice you into the world of traditional lime-based systems and offer you alternatives with the use of new modern acrylic systems (“faux plasters”). This 3-Day workshop also includes training in our most sought after faux finish, “Cracked Linen.”
Urban Finishes™ Downtown, loft-style living has become all the rave in major metropolitan areas and is now even seen in more quaint downtown districts. This class will introduce you to this design style with faux finishes created for a whole room, an accent piece, or even as artwork.
Santa Fe Living™ When living in the desert, you find the request for Santa Fe and “Southwest” style always in demand. Using mixed mediums, you will learn sophisticated and subtle ways to incorporate this faux painting design trend that can otherwise seem overpowering. In this class you will create a portfolio influenced by Adobe & Spanish with a Mediterranean flare.
Countertops & Floors™- Decorative Concrete Overlay system To meet the increasing demand for floor and countertop finishes we have created an extensive collection that focuses on modern and contemporary to classic tumbled and aged stones, and more. In addition to a new, cutting-edge portfolio students will gain knowledge on assessing and preparing existing surface, selecting the appropriate product grade for your application, how to incorporate design elements in your finish, and more. Also, with the information Faux Masters provides you will learn how to utilize much of your existing portfolio in a completely new way.

“Mini-Courses” range from 1 to 2 days and are offered at very reasonable prices. Our courses are designed to tackle specific techniques and styles from course to course. “Mini-Courses” are offered at different levels; ranging from the creative homeowner to the seasoned professional. We learned early on that it is best to offer a very specific concentration of studies to ensure the highest level of education. This allows our students to focus on a talent and invest in an education that they will benefit from.
StucoLux™ Need an easy plaster finish without all the layers or cost? Faux Effects has created just the thing! This one-day MINI-COURSE allows you to create a valuable chart, and lots of plaster samples using 12” x 16” boards to practice on. We will “set up shop” and you get to be the master. Using our helpful hints guide and directing your techniques, together we will broaden your plaster horizons!
Mini-Advanced Surfaces™ This 2-day miniature version of our 5 Day III class will introduce you to Faux Effects line of products that make creating marble, stone, plaster and decorative textural effects happen like magic. The “Reactive Series” utilizes modern technology in paint formulas to create action and movement in the product as its being applied. Come see this amazing product and how it’s done!
Mini-Furniture Finishing As a company that began in this industry perfecting furniture finishes, we proudly off this workshop on furniture and cabinetry finishing. This class will guide you through time-tested methods of wood finishing. Recreate some of our most sought after cabinetry techniques and learn some of our new production style wiping stains. This technique allows you to mimic woodtones without the artistic complexity of woodgraining.
